In “The Hudsucker Proxy,” Tim Robbins' character, Norville Barnes, draws a circle and shows it to everyone throughout the film, saying, “You know…for kids!” While the design may have been flawless, the creative lacked any explanation, rationalization and salesmanship, which meant it fell on deaf ears. Simply put, nobody understood what he had drawn—which was the world's first hula hoop.
